It is Team Member Tuesday, and today’s team member is LeAnne! You will also be able to find her profile under our Facebook album titled “Team Member Profiles.”

LeAnne was Megan’s 2nd employee in 2012 back when Oklahoma Swim Academy was still “Let’s All Swim.” LeAnne is a highly-qualified survival swim instructor at our OKC location; she completed a special training program in Utah under the same Master Instructor that trained Megan. LeAnne is proud to be the team “grandma” and is always ready and willing to share her knowledge with others. She is both helpful and supportive at all times. LeAnne is wonderful at reading children’s needs, and her determination is unparalleled, which leads to the success of her students. We are so grateful to have LeAnne on our team.

WHY DO YOU LOVE BEING A SWIM TEACHER?
As a child, I experienced a near drowning, so I feel a passion and commitment to the children I teach and for Megan & Brian who I know work so hard to make this all come together. I really enjoy the challenges and rewards of being a swim teacher. My favorite moment is when a child realizes for the first time that they have accomplished something they thought they couldn’t do. Seeing that wide-eyed smile that comes when they ‘get it’ is such a great moment.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE HOBBY OUTSIDE OF THE POOL?
We have acreage with 5 horses. We also raise Labradors and Golden Retrievers for families, therapy and service training.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE/BOOK?
I’m not sure that I have an all-time favorite movie or book, because I change with the seasons, but I always like a feel-good, happy ending ~ be it movie or book.

WHAT 3 THINGS WOULD YOU BRING WITH YOU TO A DESERTED ISLAND?
Hee hee…that’s a hard one, because I have more than three family members who I know would make a great Swiss Family Potter story, but if you make me list them, I would bring my Bible, something to make a fire, and a long-range cell phone

TELL US A FUNNY STORY ABOUT SOMETHING THAT HAS HAPPENED IN THE POOL.
As they say, “Kids say the darndest things!” There’s always something funny coming from my kids. They make me laugh daily. I do have one particular story that wasn’t funny at the time, but is quite funny now. Unfortunately, kids are always coming down with some kind of bug, which we do try to avoid. One day, I was teaching a child that was going along just fine in lessons, and I didn’t really notice anything unusual until the lesson was over. When I sat her up on the side of the pool to get her stamps, she leaned over and threw up down the inside of my bathing suit. Luckily, I am a mother to 4 kids of my own so nothing rattles me too much!
