It is Team Member Tuesday, and today’s team member is Jill! You will also be able to find her profile under our Facebook album titled “Team Member Profiles.”

Jill was Megan’s very first employee back when Oklahoma Swim Academy was still “Let’s All Swim.” She left for about a year in 2016 but just couldn’t stay away! She is back as the full-time Stroke Development Instructor at our OKC location, and you can sometimes find her at our Edmond location as well. Jill is one of our most knowledgeable swimming instructors and is especially talented at helping kiddos progress in their upper level and difficult swim skills. Swimming is a huge part of her life, and she effortlessly shares her passion for the sport with everyone she encounters. Jill is dependable, friendly, helpful, supportive, and always willing to share her knowledge with other instructors. She also has the unique ability to be both fun and no-nonsense at the same time, which is an extremely valuable skill for a swimming instructor to possess. We are so grateful for her kind-hearted, willing attitude. She is an integral part of our team, and we are lucky to have her!

WHY DO YOU LOVE BEING A SWIM TEACHER?
I love being a swim teacher, because I still get to be a kid! I am able to have fun in the water, and I enjoy sharing my passion with others. To see these kids share that same passion, join the swim team, or just enjoy it makes it all worth it.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE HOBBY OUTSIDE OF THE POOL?
I am starting to really enjoy working out. I like challenging myself in different ways and meeting goals that I set.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE/BOOK?
I’m not much of a reader, but I also have a hard time picking a favorite movie, so I’ll give my top 5: The Princess Bride, The Cutting Edge, 10 Things I Hate About You, most Disney movies, and the Narnia series. Also, not a movie, but I LOVE the TV show One Tree Hill. One of the best presents I have received was the One Tree Hill series on DVD.

WHAT 3 THINGS WOULD YOU BRING WITH YOU TO A DESERTED ISLAND?
Three things I would bring with me to a deserted island are my dog, a boat, and a compass.

TELL US A FUNNY STORY ABOUT SOMETHING THAT HAS HAPPENED IN THE POOL.
I teach my kids to do a “safety arm” where they keep one arm out when doing their backstroke, so their hand touches the wall before their head does. Once, I had a 5-year-old forget to do her safety arm and bump her head on the wall. She immediately popped up and said, “I’m fine! I have an ice pack in the car!” She had a big smile on her face, and her mom and I shared a good laugh!…There are just so many funny things that happen at the pool, because these kids are hilarious!!
